How to Update a Student's Primary Class

Created by Matthew, Modified on Mon, 9 Mar at 12:58 PM by Matthew

In ELSA School, a student can be enrolled in multiple classes at once. The Primary Class indicates the main class the student is currently in.

Important Note: If a student is removed from a class, all assignments from that previous class will be removed from their Student App. They will only see the assignments assigned to their new/current classes.

You can update a student's class individually or apply a bulk update to multiple students at once.

1. Update an Individual Student

  1. Select the Students tab from the left-hand menu.

  2. Locate the student you want to update.

  3. Click the three-dot menu () on the far right of the student's name.

  4. Select Update Class.

  5. In the "Update Class" window, use the dropdown menu to select and add the new class (e.g., "Class B").

  6. Click the star icon next to the newly added class to set it as the Primary Class.

  7. (Optional) To remove the student from their previous class, click the X icon next to that class name.

  8. Click Confirm to save. You will see a "Class Updated Successfully" message.

2. Bulk Update Multiple Students

  1. Select the Students tab from the left-hand menu.

  2. Check the boxes on the left side of the names of the students you want to update.

  3. Click the Update Class button located at the top right of the student list.

  4. In the "Update Class" window, select the new class from the dropdown menu.

  5. Click the star icon next to the new class to set it as the Primary Class for all selected students.

  6. (Optional) Click the X icon next to the old class if you wish to remove them from it.

  7. Click Confirm. The changes will be applied to all selected students instantly.
