1. Select Your Lessons

  • Navigate to the Curriculum tab on the left-hand menu of your Admin Dashboard.

  • Browse your materials under the Contents tab or search for specific AI roleplays in the ELSA Content tab.

  • Click the checkbox on the top right of the lesson cards to select multiple lessons. You can mix and match different activity types (e.g., Study Sets, Read Alouds, and Role Plays).

  • Once you have selected your desired lessons, click the Assign to Class button at the bottom right of the screen.

2. Review and Confirm

  • A Preview panel will slide in on the right side of the screen.

  • Review your list of selected lessons to ensure everything is correct.

  • Click Continue.

3. Configure Assignment Details

  • In the "Create Assignment" window, enter an Assignment Name (e.g., "Understanding Culture").

  • Click the Select Class dropdown and check the box for the class you want to assign the work to (e.g., "Class A").

  • Set the Start Date & Time and Due Date & Time.

  • Click Assign Now. You will see a green success message confirming the assignment was created successfully.

4. The Student Experience

  • Once assigned, students can open their ELSA School app and find the new mixed assignment under their My Assignments list.

  • They will see all the combined lessons grouped together under the single assignment name.

  • To begin, they simply tap the assignment and click Start Studying at the bottom of the screen to work through the activities!

Understanding Scores and Practice Time in Assignments

When you assign multiple lessons to your students—whether you group several of the same activity type or mix different ones together—ELSA School automatically calculates their overall Score and Practice Time.

Here is how these metrics are calculated on your Admin Dashboard:

1. How Scores are Calculated

Whether you select lessons from the Contents tab or the ELSA Content tab, the overall assignment score is always the average of all the individual lessons within that assignment.

  • Single-Type Assignments (e.g., Only Read Alouds): If you group multiple Read Alouds (or AI Roleplays, or Study Sets) into one assignment, the score is the average of those specific lessons.

    • Example: (Read Aloud 1 + Read Aloud 2) ÷ Total number of Read Alouds.

  • Mixed Assignments: If you mix different activity types (Study Sets, Read Alouds, and AI Roleplays) into a single assignment, the overall score combines them all.

    • Example: (Study Set Score + Read Aloud Score + AI Roleplay Score) ÷ Total number of lessons = Overall Score.

2. How Practice Time is Calculated (Time Stacking)

Practice time is measured by the actual length of the student's voice recordings. When multiple lessons are grouped into one assignment, the practice time for every lesson is added together (stacked).

  • Example: If an assignment contains a Study Set (1 min of recording), a Read Aloud (2 mins), and an AI Roleplay (5 mins), the overall practice time will show as 8 minutes.

  • Retrying Lessons: If a student replays a lesson within the assignment to get a better score, the extra practice time stacks! For instance, if a student has 15 minutes of total practice time and repeats a 2-minute Read Aloud, their total time on your dashboard will instantly update to 17 minutes.
