How to Use ELSA School Effectively

To get the most out of ELSA School, we recommend designing your curriculum around the "Learning Loop."

This workflow ensures students build their English skills progressively—starting from individual words, moving to full context, and finally applying them in conversation.

The Recommended Flow

The Learning Loop mimics how language is naturally acquired: Learn → Practice → Understand → Use. By repeating this cycle, students improve recall, pronunciation accuracy, and speaking confidence.

1. Study Set Assignment (The Foundation)

The first step focuses on the building blocks of language: vocabulary and sentence structure.

  • Key Words: Students start by learning specific words and phrases (e.g., "Artificial Intelligence," "computers") to build their vocabulary foundation.

  • Sentences: Next, students practice reading sentences one by one. This helps them understand how the key words fit into grammatical structures.

2. Read Aloud (Context & Fluency)

Once students are comfortable with the individual components, they move to the Read Aloud stage to practice fluency.

  • Whole Passage: Students read the entire passage in one go rather than sentence-by-sentence.

  • Full Context: This step is crucial for developing flow and understanding the full context of the material they just practiced in the Study Set.

3. Conversation (Application)

The final and most advanced stage of the loop is AI Roleplay.

  • Real-world Practice: Students engage in an AI roleplay session related to the passage they just read.

  • Apply Learning: This allows students to immediately apply the learned words and sentences into a dynamic conversation, solidifying their knowledge.

Why use the Learning Loop?

Instead of just memorizing English, this flow ensures students use English with purpose.

  • Vocabulary becomes easier to recall.

  • Pronunciation becomes more accurate.

  • Speaking becomes more confident and natural.

By following this loop, you move students beyond simple repetition and into real proficiency improvement.
