Understanding Your Lessons: Study Sets, Read Alouds, and AI Roleplays

Your teacher can assign three kinds of activities—Study Set, Read Aloud, and AI Roleplay—to help you improve pronunciation, fluency, and conversation. You may see more than one type inside a single assignment (for example, a study set plus a read-aloud plus a roleplay in one assignment).

1. Study Set

A Study Set is a list of words or short lines. You practice sounds one item at a time with model audio and instant feedback.

  • Listen with the speaker first. To speak, tap the microphone, wait until it turns green, then speak.
  • You get detailed, color-coded feedback on your sounds.

2. Read Aloud

Read Aloud asks you to read a passage out loud. It focuses on fluency, rhythm, and accuracy for continuous text.

  • Read the passage with the microphone when prompted.
  • Your teacher may include several Read Aloud parts in the same assignment.

Note: Warm-up lessons are no longer part of Read Aloud in this version of the app.

3. AI Roleplay

AI Roleplay places you in a short conversation with an AI character. You respond naturally with your voice.

  • Listen to the AI, then speak when it’s your turn.
  • Your teacher may add multiple roleplay scenes within one assignment.

Each type targets different skills. The student app’s screens for these activities have been updated for clarity—follow the buttons and prompts on each screen.
